Blood donating
I try to donate blood about every 60 days or so. I usually get a call from the Red Cross to remind me and set an appointment. Today at 14.00 I gave my pint (473.2 mL) and while I was donating they noticed I’m a pretty regular donor. Today they asked me if I wanted to see if I have a high enough platelet count to do apheresis donation. It takes longer but you get your plasma and red blood cells pumped back into you. If I qualify I’ll probably try it once to see how it is.

Hey Dan,
I give Double Red Blood cells twice a year and it may take longer but its better for them to use in open heart surgery and organ transplantation. I try to alternate between that and whole blood. The only down side is that you have to wait for a longer period of time between donations. Robert also donates this way. He some times does Triple Red Blood cells. If you decide to do it let me know how it goes. Just watch out for numb lips and make sure you eat a big meal before you donate this way because if you don’t you could pass out.
