I can imagine new to clipless with no brakes on a fixie would freak anyone out. Once you're used to them thought, you'll wonder how you got on without them.

I ride Speedplay Frog pedals on my road bike (my commuter still has flats, but I'm probably going to put the Frogs on there soon). They are a mountain pedal and the cleat fits right into an SPD sized shoe (check the Speedplay compatibility chart to be sure). I love them because they provide enough float and I can walk around in them without needing cleat covers. A lot of people use the mountain or SPD cleats because of the walking advantage.

I blog about life. Work when I can and bikes and fun the rest of the time :)

oh man! i just got my first pair of clipless pedals. i'm riding fixed gear and my brakes have been shot for the past couple weeks. i actually had to put my clipped pedals back on because riding clipless with no brakes freaks me out!

do you use spd pedals? i have a hard time clipping in still, but i'm pretty new at it. i guess if i had a brake it'd be easier...

what sort of cleats do you use? i got some mountain ones because they seem easier to walk in, even though i'm riding road.

also i may have crossed links, but are you perchance in the anijam at comic con? i just signed up for saturday. i'll be brining my fixie down too! that's how i came across your blog and i'm pretty pumped it's a bike blog and not all about work!
